The JEE Mains is an annual examination held by the National Testing Agency for candidates applying to undergraduate engineering and architecture programmes at top Indian universities. Following the examination, students must decide whether to take the JEE Advanced exam or apply to other universities that recognise JEE Main results.
JEE Advanced
The JEE Advanced Exam is an entrance exam for students who want to pursue higher education at one of India’s Indian Institutes of Technology. Students must meet certain qualifying requirements to take the JEE Advanced exam. To even be considered for registration in the JEE Advanced exam, applicants must first place among the top 250,000 candidates in JEE Main exam(i.e. Top 20 percentile).
Age limits, prior admissions, the number of attempts already made, and if they have taken their Class 12 examinations are among the other criteria. Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering are some of the most common specialisations offered by IITs. Students must choose a branch when they apply, although they may be able to alter it later with university clearance.
Other Universities and Colleges
There are various options open to those who do not intend to take the JEE Advanced examination. Over 1,700 universities across the country accept JEE Main results. Because of their status and potential, the NITs and IIITs are the most sought-after institutes.
Students can also apply to GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes), which offer a variety of science and engineering disciplines. Students can also apply to privately held universities that accept JEE Main score if none of the above options appears to be a good fit.
The JEE Main test is held two times a year. This provides students with additional planning freedom, allowing them to schedule their tests whenever convenient for them.
